When so many colleges make pitches that all sound frustratingly similar, it’s difficult to get passed the image to the actual character of the institution and its students. So how does one undress the college of all it’s marketing and see through to the nuances that make each school different?
More and more colleges are likening themselves to Hogwarts, the fictional school where Harry Potter and friends foiled “He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named” over the course of seven books. While the comparison is a bit silly, the real issue is the generic way in which many colleges describe themselves, making it difficult for students to distinguish one school that’s just like Hogwarts from another school that is also just like Hogwarts.
