A liberal arts education is meant to prepare you for a lifetime of learning. A small liberal arts college has faculty and staff who can be involved in your life when you are a student. Some faculty and staff at large universities can do that, too, though that is not what they are rewarded for. What a small college can do is keep up the education for life. I write this sitting in the Campus Center on Homecoming, talking to wave after wave of alumni, continuing the serious conversations about how they understand their lives.

Conversation topic: How important is a liberal arts education for you? Is it a must-have, or one of many options you're considering as a part of a more inclusive college search?

Centre community, how would you describe the value of your liberal arts education (or your contribution to it if you're a professor)?
